Friday,  26 February 2016

 RACE 1:  SINGAPORE-CANADA FRIENDSHIP CUP
                 CLASS 5, DIV 1 - 1700M (POLYTRACK)

SUN DANCE (R Woodworth) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped GIORGIO (App K Toh) out onto KLEVER WARRIOR (M Kellady).

CANNON KING (App N Alfian) and READY FORTUNE (App CK Ng) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, KLEVER WARRIOR checked when crowded between GIORGIO, which was carried outwards slightly by SUN DANCE and NATURAL WATER (M Zaki), which shifted inwards.

GIORGIO raced wide in the early stages.

After passing the 1200m, CANNON KING, which was racing keenly, shifted outwards after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of KLEVER WARRIOR. When shifting outwards, CANNON KING bumped READY FORTUNE and carried that gelding wider on the track.

Near the 900m, CANNON KING was buffeted between KING SAVINSKY (R Shafiq) and READY FORTUNE.

Approaching the 700m, CANNON KING and READY FORTUNE raced tightly and in so doing, brushed on a number of occasions.

Near the 600m, CANNON KING fell dislodging its rider when racing between READY FORTUNE on its outside and KING SAVINSKY and SUN DANCE to its inside. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

App Alfian, the rider of CANNON KING, was subsequently examined by the Course Medical Officer who declared him unfit to fulfil his remaining riding engagement.

The Veterinary Surgeon subsequently reported that CANNON KING returned with a deep cut on its near-fore knee.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SUN DANCE which revealed no apparent abnormality.

Trainer HW Tan, when questioned regarding the apparent improved performance of HUMOR TOWN (I Saifudin), stated that the gelding was tonight back up in distance and racing again on the Polytrack for the first time since dropping back down to Class 5. He added that tonight’s field was weaker than the gelding’s previous starts, and whilst confident of an improved performance, the win did surprise him.

 RACE 2:  CANADIAN 5-PILLARS CUP
                 RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1000M (POLYTRACK)

BULLISH LUCK (V Duric) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

SHARP KNIGHT (App WS Chan) was slow to begin.

SUPER TRIPLE ACE (App WT Chung) was bumped on the hindquarters by HERACLES (CW Brown), which shifted outwards after being bumped heavily by SHAQRAA (O Chavez), which jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 700m, SHAQRAA, which was racing keenly and having a tendency to lay outwards, had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of SUPER TRIPLE ACE, which rolled inwards slightly.

SHAQRAA again steadied after passing the 600m after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of SUPER TRIPLE ACE.

During the race, the strap on the breast plate on SUPER TRIPLE ACE broke.

The Farrier reported that SUPER TRIPLE ACE returned having cast its near-hind plate.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that SUPER TRIPLE ACE had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

 RACE 3:  MANULIFE CUP
                 KRANJI STAKES D, DIV 2 - 1200M

As there was no similar claiming rider available, the Stewards gave permission for App K Toh to replace App N Alfian on SUPERMART.

STICK SEEKER (App CC Wong), which blundered on jumping, shifted outwards and made contact with the hindquarters of LIM’S SPRINT (D Beasley). STICK SEEKER then shifted inwards and made contact with DREAMCATCHER (App CK Ng).

Shortly after the start, LIM’S SPRINT was bumped by GUILTY PLEASURES (J Powell), which in turn had been bumped by FORTUNE SPIRIT (E Chaves), which shifted outwards after jumping away awkwardly.

Near the 1000m, SUPERMART eased to avoid the heels of SOON YI (I Saifudin), which had been steadied inwards to avoid the heels of DREAMCATCHER, which was laying inwards.

Q NINE MAC (O Chavez) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

GUILTY PLEASURES raced wide throughout.

Near the 550m, DREAMCATCHER eased after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of LIM’S SPRINT.

Q NINE MAC had a tendency to lay outwards throughout.

In the early part of the homestraight, SOON YI had some difficulty obtaining clear running. SOON YI again then had difficulty obtaining clear running for a short distance after passing the 300m.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that STICK SEEKER bled. In terms of MRA Rule 92(3), it will not be permitted to canter or gallop on the main training tracks of any racecourse for a period of two months, and may not start in any race for a period of three months, and then only after having satisfactorily passed a bleeder’s test.

 RACE 4:  AIR CANADA CUP
                 CLASS 5, DIV 2 - 1700M (POLYTRACK)

ZAC BENEVOLENT (CW Brown) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped SPEED CRAFT (App CK Ng).

AUREUS (App WT Chung), which began awkwardly, shifted outwards and bumped VITALLY SECRET (K A’Isisuhairi) out onto GENERAL CONATUS (K Fujii). VITALLY SECRET and GENERAL CONATUS continued to bump again shortly after. BIG BANKER (D Beasley), which was following, had to be steadied in consequence.

Shortly after the start, SPEED CRAFT, which was shifting inwards, had to be eased off the heels of BIGCAT RHAPSODY (E Chaves).

GREAT LIGHT (R Woodworth) and BIGCAT RHAPSODY both raced wide throughout.

Near the 700m, GOLDEN JADE (I Saifudin) shifted outwards when improving and in doing so, carried GREAT LIGHT wider on the track.

Near the 350m, VITALLY SECRET had to be momentarily steadied after being held up on the heels of DRAPPIER (S Sam), which was tiring.

Near the 200m, SPEED CRAFT brushed the running rail and became unbalanced.

The Farrier reported that BIG BANKER returned having cast its near-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on GOLDEN JADE which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

 RACE 5:  FAIRMONT SINGAPORE CUP
                 CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

MR NEVERMIND (R Shafiq) reared as the start was effected and was then slow into stride, resulting in the gelding losing ground.

KATAGAS (B Vorster) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

SUPER BRILLIANT (KB Soo) and MY REACH (I Azhar) bumped heavily on jumping, resulting in both horses becoming very unbalanced.

NOBLE CRAFTSMAN (K A’Isisuhairi), which blundered at the start, shifted inwards shortly after bumping Q NINE MAGIC (App R Zawari).

KEEN DRAGON (App CK Ng) and FAITHFULLY (App T See) made contact on jumping.

Near the 1100m, SUPER BRILLIANT eased to avoid the heels of KEEN DRAGON, which shifted inwards.

Approaching the 1000m, KATAGAS commenced to race keenly and in so doing, had to be eased after racing up onto the heels of NO SMOKING JEFF (E Chaves).

BARNATO (App MM Firdaus), which was racing keenly, had to be eased to avoid the heels of FAITHFULLY, which shifted inwards.

KEEN DRAGON and SUPER BRILLIANT both raced wide throughout.

MR NEVERMIND had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the homestraight.

The Farrier reported that KEEN DRAGON returned having cast its near-hind plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MR NEVERMIND which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KATAGAS which revealed that the horse exhibited signs of respiratory distress after the race. KATAGAS will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

 RACE 6:  CANCHAM CUP
                 CLASS 5, DIV 3 - 1700M (POLYTRACK)

Permission was granted for App R Rueven to replace App T See on GYPSY STAR as the latter was unable to make the weight. App T See was subsequently fined a sum of S$200 in terms of MRA Rule 107(9).

STREET CHAMP (R Woodworth) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped LEGACY (App MM Firdaus).

NOVEMBER SUCCESS (I Azhar) and JOHNNY HATES JAZZ (M Zaki) bumped on jumping away.

Near the 1400m, STANZOUT (App Z Zuriman) had to be eased when racing in restricted room between GYPSY STAR and GODS SPEED (S Sam).

GODS SPEED and JOHNNY HATES JAZZ both raced wide throughout.

BUZET (App CC Wong) was held up and unable to improve approaching the hometurn.

Near the 400m, STANZOUT checked when racing between JOHNNY HATES JAZZ and GYPSY STAR. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Near the 100m, BUZET shifted outwards under pressure obliging its rider to stop riding and straighten his mount.

The whip used by Jockey Sam, the rider of GODS SPEED, broke during the race.

The Farrier reported that JOHNNY HATES JAZZ returned having cast its off-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on PEREGRINE FALCON (K Fujii) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 7:  CANADA CUP 2016
                 BENCHMARK 67 - 1400M

Near the 1000m, IKING (App CK Ng) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of POLE PARADISE (E Chaves), which shifted inwards.

Near the 900m, FORTUNE WINNER (I Azhar) shifted inwards and bumped IKING.

Approaching the 300m, FORTUNE WINNER commenced to shift outwards under pressure and in so doing, carried TERMS OF REFERENCE (B Vorster) wider on the track.

Approaching the Winning Post, FORTUNE WINNER and TERMS OF REFERENCE bumped.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WHITE HUNTER (V Duric) which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

Jockey R Woodworth, when questioned regarding the run of SPECIAL ID, stated that the gelding jumped well and was able to assume its customary position in the lead. He further added that SPECIAL ID travelled well until approaching the hometurn where after straightening, WHITE HUNTER was able to improve forward of his horse. Following this, he placed the gelding under pressure where it failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the run to the Finish. His explanation was noted. SPECIAL ID was impounded for routine veterinary and analytical examination. The Veterinary Surgeon reported no apparent abnormality. SPECIAL ID, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

App Rueven who rode his 80th winner on ARES will only be permitted to claim 1Kg allowance with effect from Monday, 29 February 2016.

 RACE 8:  SCOTIABANK CUP
                 KRANJI STAKES D, DIV 1 - 1200M

After arriving at the barrier, SEASONS ECHO (App CC Wong) had its saddle readjusted.

STIRLING (D Beasley) and FANTASTIC MAN (E Chaves) bumped on jumping.

MORALES (O Chavez) jumped awkwardly outwards and bumped JUBILATION (J Powell).

KEVIN ELEVEN (App R Sazali) raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 500m, SCIENCE FICTION (A Da Silva) shifted outwards and carried JUBILATION wider on the track.

Near the 500m, MORALES had to be eased outwards to avoid the heels of KAISER BRIGHT (K Fujii), which shifted outwards.

Near the 350m, MORALES commenced to shift outwards to obtain clear running. At the same time, SEASONS ECHO, which had been following MORALES, shifted outwards to improve, and, as MORALES continued to shift outwards, SEASONS ECHO was then carried wider on the track for a short distance.

Near the 300m, KEVIN ELEVEN, which had been laying inwards, shifted in abruptly.

Approaching the 100m, MAPLE STAR (App I Amirul) had to be eased to avoid the heels of FAST EDITION (V Duric), which rolled inwards under pressure. Jockey Duric was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on STIRLING which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 9:  MAPLE LEAF CUP
                 CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

SMART SUPREME (App MM Firdaus) began awkwardly.

WAKINO NEXUS (K Fujii), which began awkwardly, bumped heavily with ROYAL RULER (B Vorster), WAKINO NEXUS then shifted inwards and made contact with CASTLE QUEEN (R Woodworth). WAKINO NEXUS was then severely crowded between CASTLE QUEEN and ROYAL RULER, which shifted inwards, resulting in WAKINO NEXUS losing ground.

Approaching the 800m, RED ANT (D Beasley) shifted inwards and bumped the hindquarters of MR WHITAKER (V Duric).

JELLY BEAN (J Powell) and WAKINO NEXUS both raced wide throughout.

Approaching the Winning Post, HOST THE NATION (O Chavez), which was shifting outwards, had to be steadied away from the heels of YOU DA ONE (App CC Wong), which rolled inwards slightly.

Jockey Chavez will be questioned regarding the run of HOST THE NATION.

The Farrier reported that EN CIVIL (R Shafiq) returned having cast its off-fore and near-hind plates.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that HOST THE NATION had returned with the saddle having slipped back during the running of the race.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on HOST THE NATION which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SMART SUPREME which revealed that the horse returned having bled. DRUGS OF ABUSE TESTING – HUMAN URINE
RANDOM SAMPLES: 12 OCTOBER 2015

14 human urine samples from the above-mentioned date were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

Samples were analysed and the sample with Sample Coding No. J-3515 which was taken from Anjas Bin Muhamat (S.300), a syce from Trainer L Khoo’s Stables, revealed the presence of Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.

After a number of attempts to contact Anjas Bin Muhamat, pursuant to MRA Rule 153, an inquiry into this matter was heard in his absence on Monday, 18 January 2016, following which Anjas Bin Muhamat was charged under MRA Rule 136(4)(b), the particulars being that the sample taken from him on Monday, 12 October 2015 was found to contain Methamphetamine and Amphetamine, prohibited substances under the MRA Rules of Racing. On Tuesday, 2 February 2016, after considering the evidence, Anjas Bin Muhamat was found guilty to the charge under MRA Rule of Racing 136(4)(b).

Despite being further advised of the Stewards’ findings, Anjas Bin Muhamat failed to attend the hearing set down for the consideration of the penalty on Wednesday, 24 February 2016. The Stewards gave consideration to the matter of penalty in his absence and Anjas Bin Muhamat was disqualified for a period of eighteen months with immediate effect from Wednesday, 24 February 2016 to Wednesday, 23 August 2017 both dates inclusive and he was advised of his right of appeal.

 

DRUGS OF ABUSE TESTING – HUMAN URINE
RANDOM SAMPLES: 12 OCTOBER 2015

14 human urine samples from the above-mentioned date were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

Samples were analysed and the sample with Sample Coding No. J-3502 which was taken from Irwadi Bin Muhamat (S.36), a syce from Trainer HK Tan’s Stables, revealed the presence of Methamphetamine and Amphetamine.

After a number of attempts to contact Irwadi Bin Muhamat, pursuant to MRA Rule 153, an inquiry into this matter was heard in his absence on Monday, 18 January 2016, following which Irwadi Bin Muhamat was charged under MRA Rule 136(4)(b), the particulars being that the sample taken from him on Monday, 12 October 2015 was found to contain Methamphetamine and Amphetamine, prohibited substances under the MRA Rules of Racing. SINGAPORE DECEMBER MEETING 2015
SUNDAY, 13 DECEMBER 2015:

RACE 10 [TF1509]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Tuesday, 23 February 2016, Jockey S Sam, the rider of FUJIN BRIGHT, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding FUJIN BRIGHT in Race 10 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 13 December 2015, approaching the 400m, he did make insufficient effort to prevent his mount from shifting outwards, thereby crowding ALASAMO (App R Rueven) onto TIME ODYSSEY (CW Brown), which was crowded onto HIGH BLADE (I Saifudin), resulting in ALASAMO clipping heels and blundering and both TIME ODYSSEY and HIGH BLADE being hampered. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from jockey Sam that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 26 February 2016 and Sunday, 28 February 2016. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 29 February 2016 until Sunday, 06 March 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his right of appeal.

 

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2016
SUNDAY, 17 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 10 [TF97]

On Wednesday, 24 February 2016, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for LIM’S SPRINT (CW Brown) having to check when racing between TERMS OF REFERENCE (B Vorster) and DUTY FIRST (J Powell) to the inside and STICK SEEKER (App CC Wong), BLOOD ROYAL (App N Nurshahril) and SMART PEOPLE (O Chavez) to the outside near the 1000m. It was established that near the 1000m, DUTY FIRST rolled outwards marginally crowding TERMS OF REFERENCE onto LIM’S SPRINT. At the same time, STICK SEEKER was taken inwards by BLOOD ROYAL, which hung inwards and away from SMART PEOPLE. This resulted in STICK SEEKER, TERMS OF REFERENCE and LIM’S SPRINT being heavily buffeted. LIM’S SPRINT then became severely crowded for racing room and checked. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.

 

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2016
FRIDAY, 29 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 1 [TF132]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Tuesday, 23 February 2016, App Y Ruzaili, the rider of BANKERS CALL, in the presence of his master, Trainer S Gray, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BANKERS CALL in Race 1 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 29 January 2016, near the 100m, he permitted his mount to shift outwards, when not sufficiently clear of ZAC COMMAND (M Nunes), resulting in that gelding being taken out off its course for a number of strides and being crowded for racing room and having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Ruzaili that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 26 February 2016 and Sunday, 28 February 2016. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 29 February 2016 until Sunday, 6 March 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days).  He was advised of his right of appeal.

 

RACE 5 [TF136]

On Tuesday, 23 February 2016, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for I-SCREAM NOW (App MM Firdaus) having to check when racing between MATOAKA (A Munro) to its inside and INFERMO (App T See) and BAIL OUT (E Aslam) to its outside approaching the 800m. It was established that leading up to the incident, I-SCREAM NOW, which was racing keenly, raced in restricted room between MATOAKA and INFERMO, which was inclined to lay inwards and away from BAIL OUT. Approaching the 800m, INFERMO had continued to shift inwards and away from BAIL OUT, despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in I-SCREAM NOW being crowded and having to be checked. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.

SUNDAY, 31 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 5 [TF157]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Wednesday, 24 February 2016, App CK Ng, the rider of BRAHMS AND LISZT, in the presence of his master’s B trainer, Garry Clutterbuck, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BRAHMS AND LISZT in Race 5 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 31 January 2016, shortly after the start, he made insufficient effort to straighten his mount, resulting in HAMMER DOWN (App CS Chin) having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Ng that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 26 February 2016 and Sunday, 28 February 2016. The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Monday, 29 February 2016 until Sunday, 6 March 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days).  He was advised of his right of appeal.

27 coded urine and 27 coded blood post race samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

29 coded urine and 33 coded blood post race samples from the above-mentioned race meeting were received for analysis under the MRA Rules and Regulations.

FOURVIERE (W210), which was very fractious in the barrier, dived under the front gate and sat down momentarily, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).
