 RACE 1:  CLASS 5, DIV 1 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

App R Hasri, the rider of SO SIMPLE, was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and ride at his declared riding weight.

App I Amirul, the rider of AFTERNOON DELIGHT, was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and ride at his declared riding weight.

Prior to the start, VITALLY SECRET (E Aslam) was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER (K A’Isisuhairi) began awkwardly.

MR DE NIRO (M Nunes) and VITALLY SECRET bumped on jumping.

FUKU ICHIBAN (S John) jumped inwards at the start and bumped PRINCESS ZOLA (M Kellady). PRINCESS ZOLA then shifted outwards and made contact with FUKU ICHIBAN.

Shortly after the start, SO SIMPLE eased when crowded between BEAT TO QUARTERS (App CC Wong) and CONGO ZANDOR (R Woodworth), which shifted outwards.

Shortly after the start, MR DE NIRO and AUREUS (App WS Chan) both checked when racing between FUKU ICHIBAN and ONE MORE ACHIEVER. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 1100m, FUKU ICHIBAN checked to the inside of ONE MORE ACHIEVER. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

Approaching the 800m, MR DE NIRO had to be steadied off the heels of ONE MORE ACHIEVER when racing keenly.

VITALLY SECRET raced keenly in the backstraight.

AUREUS raced wide throughout.

Approaching the 500m, Jockey Kellady, the rider of PRINCESS ZOLA, dropped his whip. He was subsequently warned that a repetition of dropping his whip may lead to a penalty being imposed in future.

ONE MORE ACHIEVER and SO SIMPLE brushed on a couple of occasions near the 200m.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on MR DE NIRO which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 2:  RESTRICTED MAIDEN - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

ASHQAR (O Chavez), which was fractious in the barrier, will be required to pass one starting stall test prior to being declared to race again in terms of MRA Rule 78(2).

NOVA MASTER (M Nunes) and WAR CITI (M Rodd) bumped on jumping.

SCIMITAR (J Powell) began awkwardly.

VINTAGE VERDOT (A Munro) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped PIECE OF CAKE (K Fujii).

SUN HANCOCK (K A’Isisuhairi) jumped inwards at the start making contact with the hindquarters of PUTHIMONICE (M Kellady).

Approaching the 900m, SUN HANCOCK, which was racing keenly, lost ground when crowded between ROYAL CHOICE (A Da Silva) and STAR GENIUS (I Saifudin), which rolled outwards. STAR GENIUS then commenced to race keenly for a short distance.

WAR CITI laid outwards making the turn near the 600m.

Near the 400m, ASHQAR steadied outwards away from the heels of PUTHIMONICE, which in turn had to be eased outwards off the heels of STAR GENIUS when that filly shifted outwards.

Passing the 300m, ROYAL CHOICE shifted inwards abruptly.

Near the 100m, WAR CITI and NOVA MASTER made contact.

The Farrier reported that NOVA MASTER returned having cast its off-fore plate.

Jockey A’Isisuhairi reported that SUN HANCOCK was not striding out freely.  A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 3:  NOVICE - 1000M (POLYTRACK)

GOLD STOCK (App J See) was slow into stride.

JOBODWANA (A Munro), which jumped away awkwardly, proved difficult to settle for a short distance after the start.

PRETTY ELUSIVE (I Azhar), which jumped away awkwardly, shifted outwards making contact with NOVA EAGLE (M Nunes). NOVA EAGLE then became unbalanced, shifted inwards bumping PRETTY ELUSIVE on a couple of occasions.

JOBODWANA, which was proving difficult to settle, had to be eased off the heels of KING OF THIEVES (App WT Chung) approaching the 600m.

Making the turn into the straight, JOBODWANA steadied when awkwardly placed on the heels of KING OF THIEVES.

 RACE 4:  KRANJI STAKES D - 1900M (POLYTRACK)

GRAND PARIS (I Saifudin) was slow to begin.

DANNY (App R Rueven) jumped awkwardly inwards and bumped MONEY KING (TH Koh).

STARPERFECT (J Powell) jumped awkwardly inwards and made contact with BILLY BRITAIN (A Da Silva).

GREAT BALLS OFFIRE (App R Firdhaus) began awkwardly.

Near the 900m, GREAT BALLS OFFIRE shifted outwards and brushed SCHILTRON (A Munro) on a couple of occasions.

CLERMONT CLUB (O Chavez) raced wide throughout.

GRAND PARIS raced wide from the 1300m.

Approaching the 300m, BILLY BRITAIN was eased outwards after being disappointed for a run between MONEY KING and CLERMONT CLUB.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on VERGLATICA (K A’Isisuhairi) which revealed no apparent abnormality.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on SCHILTRON which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

 RACE 5:  CLASS 4, DIV 1 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

MCGREGOR (App Z Zuriman) fly-jumped and lost ground.

HAMMER DOWN (App CS Chin) began awkwardly.

BRAHMS AND LISZT (App CK Ng) jumped away awkwardly.

ASPEN (A Munro) was inconvenienced at the start by BRAHMS AND LISZT, which shifted inwards.

HAPPY SAGA (App T See) got its head up shortly after the start.

Shortly after the start, HAMMER DOWN checked when racing between KEEN DRAGON (M Nunes) and BRAHMS AND LISZT. An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

WEE MONSTER (App MM Firdaus) got its head up and commenced to overrace after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of GOLDEN MILE (App CC Wong) when the pace slowed. App Wong, the rider of GOLDEN MILE, was warned and reminded not to ease the pace excessively when leading in future.

Passing the 800m, BRAHMS AND LISZT steadied off the heels of MCGREGOR, which shifted inwards. App Zuriman was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

HAMMER DOWN raced wide throughout.

KEEN DRAGON laid outwards making the turn into the straight.

Between the 300m and the 200m, BRAHMS AND LISZT and TERMS OF REFERENCE (B Vorster) bumped on a number of occasions.

App T See will be questioned regarding the run of HAPPY SAGA at a date to be fixed.

The Farrier reported that TERMS OF REFERENCE returned having cast its near-fore plate.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on WEE MONSTER which revealed that the horse returned with a cut on its off-fore leg.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on HAPPY SAGA which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 6:  CLASS 5, DIV 2 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

App T See, the rider of GODS SPEED, was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and ride at his declared riding weight.

HEAVENLY GIFT (A Munro) and REAL GOODMAN (S John) bumped on jumping.

Shortly after the start, CAPTAIN CLASSIQUE (M Nunes) and STANZOUT (App CS Chin) were both crowded between BREAKING VAULTS (I Saifudin) and GYPSY STAR (App J See), which shifted outwards.

Approaching the 800m, CAPTAIN CLASSIQUE made contact with REAL GOODMAN when being steadied outwards away from the heels of HEAVENLY GIFT. Shortly after, CAPTAIN CLASSIQUE and REAL GOODMAN bumped when racing tight between HEAVENLY GIFT and SIMPANG (App CC Wong). This resulted in REAL GOODMAN becoming crowded and losing ground.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on GODS SPEED which revealed no apparent abnormality. GODS SPEED, which raced poorly, will be required to pass a 1000m gallop trial and veterinary examination prior to being declared to race again.

All riders returned to scale an average of 1kg overweight due to the weather conditions.

 RACE 7:  KRANJI STAKES C - 1600M (POLYTRACK)

To avoid a clash with the start times of overseas simulcast races which had been rescheduled, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1620Hrs.

EMPRESS WU (TH Koh) lost ground after beginning awkwardly.

After passing the 1200m, XZUBERANCE (M Nunes) mis-strode.

XZUBERANCE raced keenly in the early stages.

XZUBERANCE laid outwards under pressure between the 300m and the 150m and in so doing, approaching the 150m, inconvenienced VERTICAL START (B Vorster).

 RACE 8:  KRANJI STAKES D, DIV 2 - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Due to a delay in the start time of Race 7, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1650rs.

MOLLY BROWNE (App CK Ng) began awkwardly.

DRAGON KING (App T See) was slow into stride.

SAVAGE STORM (App CC Wong) and ROMA (K Fujii) bumped on jumping.

Approaching the 800m, SAVAGE STORM shifted inwards abruptly and bumped RACER KING (I Azhar) in onto SATELLITE PRINCE (App M Jailani).

Near the 700m, CASTLE QUEEN (R Woodworth) laid inwards and had to be eased off the heels of TIM (A Da Silva).

CASTLE QUEEN raced wide throughout.

Approaching and passing the 400m, ROMA was taken wider on the track by MOLLY BROWNE, which shifted outwards. MOLLY BROWNE continued to shift outwards under pressure for the remainder of the homestraight. App Ng was subsequently shown the film of the incident and warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground in future.

Jockey Azhar reported that RACER KING was not striding out freely.  A subsequent veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 9:  OPEN - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Due to a delay in the start time of Race 8, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1725rs.

App J See, the rider of SOUTHERN BOSS, was fined a sum of S$200 for negligence in terms of MRA Rule 152(5)(a) in that he failed to claim and ride at his declared riding weight.

PIONEER SEVEN (App CC Wong), which was restless in the barrier, was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, EL PADRINO (O Chavez) eased when crowded between GOAL KEEPER (B Vorster), which shifted inwards and MYCAPTAINOBLIVIOUS (M Kellady), which was bumped outwards by KAM’S COMET (App MM Firdaus), which in turn had been bumped outwards by SOUTHERN BOSS, which was carried outwards by SEBAS (A Munro), which jumped awkwardly outwards and continued to shift outwards thereafter. PIONEER SEVEN, which was following, was inconvenienced in consequence.

After passing the 800m, PIONEER SEVEN was eased after becoming awkwardly placed on the heels of KAM’S COMET, which shifted inwards slightly.

GOAL KEEPER raced wide throughout.

Near the 100m, GOAL KEEPER, which had a tendency to shift inwards and away from EL PADRINO, steadied to avoid the heels of KAM’S COMET, which rolled outwards slightly.

Approaching the Winning Post, SEBAS eased to avoid the heels of HAPPY MONEY (E Chaves).

Whilst Stewards were of the opinion that it had not affected the placings, Jockey M Rodd, the rider of HUKA FALLS, was reminded of his obligations to ride his mount out fully to the end of the race.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on KAM’S COMET which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 RACE 10:  KRANJI STAKES D, DIV 1 - 1100M (POLYTRACK)

Due to a delay in the start time of Race 9, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1800rs.

NOVA VICTORY (M Zaki) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, SMART INVESTMENT (App MM Firdaus) eased to avoid the heels of IMPERIAL BOY (App J See), which shifted inwards.

Near the 900m, READY FORTUNE (App CK Ng) steadied to avoid the heels of SMART INVESTMENT, which shifted outwards slightly.

FANTASTIC MAN (App R Rueven) raced wide throughout.

Shortly after passing the 200m, DREAMCATCHER (M Nunes) checked when racing between IMPERIAL BOY and SUPERSONICSURPRISE (A Munro). An Inquiry into this incident will be held at a date to be fixed.

The Farrier reported that READY FORTUNE and NOVA VICTORY returned having cast their off-hind and off-fore plates respectively.

A subsequent veterinary examination was requested on DRAGON RUBY (App T See) which revealed that the horse returned not striding out freely.

 RACE 11:  CLASS 4, DIV 2 - 1200M (POLYTRACK)

Due to a delay in the start time of Race 10, this race was put back five minutes and rescheduled to start at 1830rs.

Prior to the running of Race 11, Trainer HK Tan advised the Stewards that his instructions to Jockey S John, the rider of Q NINE MAC, if circumstances permit, to jump well, but try and settle just off the pace.

VIVIANO (M Nunes) was slow to begin after jumping away awkwardly.

ASPREY (A Munro) was crowded on jumping between Q NINE MAC, which jumped outwards and KAZUO (App Z Zuriman), which jumped inwards at the start.

SECRET SPICE (App CK Ng) was inconvenienced at the start when NATION THEATRE (App R Firdhau) shifted outwards after jumping away awkwardly.

ALOHA (E Chaves) raced wide throughout.

SECRET SPICE, which had a tendency to hang outwards, raced wide from the 800m.

Approaching the turn into the straight, VIVIANO and ALOHA brushed.

ASPREY had difficulty obtaining clear running in the early part of the straight.

Approaching the 200m, KAZUO laid inwards making contact with Q NINE MAC.

Subsequent veterinary examinations were requested on both MR WHITAKER (M Rodd) and ALOHA which revealed no apparent abnormality.

 GENERAL

SINGAPORE JANUARY MEETING 2016
SUNDAY, 3 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 7 [TF23]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 31 January 2016, Jockey A Munro, the rider of FUJIN BRIGHT, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding FUJIN BRIGHT in Race 7 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 03 January 2016, near the 1500m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby crowding STARPERFECT (App CC Wong), which checked. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Munro was suspended from riding in races with effect from Monday, 1 February 2016 to Tuesday, 9 February 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days) and was advised of his right of appeal.

FRIDAY, 8 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 3 [TF36]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 31 January 2016, Jockey M Nunes, the rider of SCHILTRON, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding SCHILTRON in Race 3 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Friday, 8 January 2016, near the 700m, he allowed his mount to shift outwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby resulting in BILLY BRITAIN (App CC Wong) clipping the heels of SCHILTRON and blundering. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from Jockey Nunes that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 05 February 2016 and Tuesday, 09 February 2016.  The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Wednesday, 10 February 2016 until Friday, 19 February 2016 both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days).  In addition, he was fined a sum of S$5,000. He was advised of his right of appeal.

SUNDAY, 10 JANUARY 2016:

RACE 2 [TF60]

On Thursday, 28 January 2016, the Stewards concluded an inquiry into the reasons for VINTAGE VERDOT (O Chavez) having to check when racing to the inside of SUPER BRILLIANT (J Powell), VOYAGER (App J See), THE WIND (R Woodworth) and BEST JADE (M Nunes) passing the 800m. It was established that approaching the 800m, VINTAGE VERDOT got its head up when being steadied off the heels of ROYAL CHOICE (App T See), which in turn was eased off the heels of BAIL OUT (E Aslam). Shortly after, VOYAGER, which was proving difficult to settle, shifted inwards bumping SUPER BRILLIANT in onto VINTAGE VERDOT, which checked and lost ground. In the circumstances, no blame could be attributed to any rider and as such, no further action was taken.

RACE 2 [TF60]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 31 January 2016, Jockey M Nunes, the rider of BEST JADE, was found guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding BEST JADE in Race 2 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 10 January 2016, near the 700m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby carrying THE WIND (R Woodworth) in onto VOYAGER (App J See), which was crowded and lost ground. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record and the degree of interference and carelessness. Jockey Nunes was suspended from riding in races with effect from Saturday, 20 February 2016 to Sunday, 28 February 2016 both dates inclusive (three Singapore Race Days). In addition, he was fined a sum of S$5,000. He was advised of his right of appeal.

This penalty will be served consecutively following the completion of his suspension for careless riding from Wednesday, 10 February 2016 until Friday, 19 February 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). 

RACE 6 [TF64]

At the conclusion of an inquiry on Sunday, 31 January 2016, App MM Firdaus, the rider of AQUALAD, in the presence of his master’s B trainer, Jacqueline Detert, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under MRA Rule 44(9)(a)(ii) in that whilst riding AQUALAD in Race 6 at the Singapore Turf Club Meeting on Sunday, 10 January 2016, near the 1000m, he allowed his mount to shift inwards, when insufficiently clear, thereby resulting in SPEEDY MOMENT (E Aslam) having to check. When deciding on penalty, the Stewards took into account his record, guilty plea, the degree of interference and carelessness and submissions from App Firdaus that he has been engaged to ride at the Singapore Race Meetings on Friday, 05 February 2016 and Tuesday, 09 February 2016.  The Stewards determined to suspend his licence to ride in races and acting under MRA Rule 48(5), the commencement of the suspension was deferred to begin on Wednesday, 10 February 2016 until Sunday, 14 February 2016 both dates inclusive (two Singapore Race Days). He was advised of his right of appeal.
