Penang based trainer Benny Lim
Hock Soon was disqualified six months yesterday when the Stipendiary
Stewards concluded their inquiry on items located in the feed-room of his
stable during an inspection on November 20.
Evidence were taken from Lim, stable supervisor Randolph Ham, Senior Veterinary Surgeon Dr John Williams and Stipendiary Steward Sivakumar Perumal and Lim was found guilty under Rule 203(c)(i) in that on November 20, in his feed-room, he had in possession means of nasogastric administration, namely a stomach pump without official authorization of the official veterinary surgeon. Lim’s disqualification commenced yesterday (December 10) and will expire on June 9, 2004. He was also advised that he had seven days in which to finalise his training operations. At the conclusion of another inquiry, trainer Johann Breukelen was charged under Rule 203(b) and fined RM40,000. The van Breukelen-trained ALPHA INDAH won Race 9 (Class 5, Div 2 - 1400m) on the Second Day of the Perak Turf Club November meeting on Nov 16 and his urine sample returned positive to prohibited substance, namely Boldenone. In assessing this penalty, the Stewards took into account that Johann had been penalised on two previous occasions for the same offence within the last three years. Acting under the powers of Rule 203(b), the Stewards disqualified ALPHA INDAH as the winner of Race 9 and the amended placings to read as: (1) WINNING DASH, |
