PNTC introduces Starters
Bonus scheme

The Penang Turf Club (PNTC) will introduce a
"Starters Bonus" scheme for owners and trainers whose horses
finish within a designated position in the Sprint Trophy (1,400m) on
September 12 and the Yang Di Pertua Negeri Gold Cup (2,200m) on December 26.
To support the scheme, the PNTC will deduct 6% of the prizemonies of the two classic races for payment as bonuses to the owners and trainers. A sum of 5% of the total prizemoney will be shared equally among the owners and 1% among the trainers of the horses which finish in the positions as stated. (a) For a field of five runners or less, the last finisher shall not qualify for the starters bonus. (b) For a field of six to ten runners, the last two finishers shall not qualify for the bonus. (c) For a field of 11 runners and above, the last three finishers shall not qualify for the bonus. (d) In the event of a deadheat for the last eligible position, the bonus shall be shared equally among the owners and trainers. If the horse is disqualified, the bonus will not be paid. The PNTC hopes that this scheme will serve to reward the majority of the owners and trainers in these two races by distributing to them a share of the prizemonies and increase the competitive level of these races.
