Trainer Barry Brogan injured in fall

IPOH,  20 April 2004

Irish trainer James Brogan suffered a spinal cord injury after being dislodged from a horse at Ipoh this morning. He was able to move his legs slightly but not his hands.

The 57-year-old trainer was doing trackwork onboard the Datuk Tan Chin Nam-owned NARCISSUS when the horse suddenly collapsed, throwing Brogan head first to the ground rounding the 600m bend.

Brogan, champion trainer in Malaysia two years ago, was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital after the mishap.

The former Kranji based NARCISSUS probably suffered a heart attack and was put down.
