Simultaneous racing back next year SINGAPORE, 29 June 2004 |
||
Simultaneous racing in Singapore and Malaysia,
which proved chaotic for punters when tried out for three times last year,
will be a feature of the racing calendar in 2005.
The designated days are January 30 (Penang Meeting), April 17 (Perak) and October 9 (Selangor). The problem for punters last year was that there were too many races scheduled on both sides of the causeway. And with just some 15 minutes between races, punters spent practically all the time in the queues. Many missed their bets as there were only a few minutes betwen the "all clear" and the start of the next race. For simultanoeus racing to work, and it should make racing more interesting and entice more punters to the track, there should be minimal number of races on both sides. For 2005, Penang, Perak and Selangor will have 13 weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) of racing. Singapore will race on 1 Monday, 37 Fridays, 14 Saturdays and 17 Sundays. |
