SINGAPORE, 28 December 2004 |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Singapore Turf Club will revise the
distribution of prizemoney and re-introduce Novice, Graduation and Progress
Plate races in the 2005 season. The first meeting of the new year will be on
7 January, 2005.
Revised Distribution of Prizemoney From 1 January 2005, the distribution of prizemoney for all races except for the Singapore Airlines International Cup will be as follows:
*RDF - Racing Development Fund Under the revised distribution, the winning owner will receive three times more than the runner-up and the prizemoney won from 6th to 2nd will double from each placing to the next. The distribution for trainers and jockeys remains unchanged. Re-Introduction of Novice, Graduation and Progress Plate Races The Club will reintroduce Novice, Graduation and Progress Plate races with effect from 1 January 2005. These races will be open to horses not older than 5 years old and the allocation of weights for these races will be by the number of wins (less weight-for-age allowances) as follows:
Kranji Stakes The present Kranji Stakes races will also be extended to horses in the lower classes. The weight conditions for these Kranji Stakes races are as follows:
Top Weight for Handicap Races From 1 January 2005, the weights for handicap races (Class and Benchmark) except for Feature races held under handicap conditions will be allocated using the following guidelines.
With the introduction of these guidelines, the published benchmark in Benchmark races will no longer be pegged to a weight as was the practice. The published benchmark will serve as an entry point for the Benchmark races. Also, from 1 January 2005 Benchmark Races will be open to horses up to a maximum of 2 points above the designated published benchmark only. These revisions are aimed at reducing the weights that horses have to carry in the races as well as reducing the number of horses racing outside the handicap (i.e underscaled). |
