Stewards' Cup

Three starts ago, FAIRY TALE had to be content
with a third placing in the Juvenile Championship for two-year-olds.
Three and a half months on, the three-year-old chestnut New Zealand by Shinko King out of the Icelandic mare Winter’s Tale showed that he has improved by leaps and bounds since when he triumphed in the S$125,000 Stewards’ Cup for three-year-olds at Kranji here today. His placing in July was his only defeat in five starts to date, and he exacted some measure of revenge when the Juvenile Championship winner HULK could only finished fifth this time. EL SANTOS (3 ch.arg.g Roy - Slew Briosa by Slewsville) finished second while BIG EASY (3 b.nz.g Spinning World - Nicole’s Niner by Forty Niner), winner of his last three starts, was a long third.
