Revenge Stable’s decision to
transfer OPPOSING FORCE to trainer Tiang Kim Choi paid big dividend at
Sungei Besi this afternoon when the hardy galloper found a change of
fortunes to win the RM750,000 Selangor Gold Cup over 1,600m.
Although the seven-year-old chestnut New Zealand gelding by Jetball out of the Sir Tristram mare Delia’s Choice had won seven races which included two Perak Derbys, the MRA Cup and the Penang Sprint Trophy under Richard Lines, he has been distinctly luckless since winning the Sprint Trophy in September 2002. In this period, he has been placed seven times in the big races ranging from 1,200m to 2,000m. A change of trainer also saw a change of rider for OPPOSING FORCE in the Selangor Gold Cup. Singapore champion jockey Saimee Jumaat, who has never ridden the horse before, immediately struck up a formidable partnership with the gelding. |
