Singapore racing fans will be able to watch and bet on Hong Kong races during Malaysian race meeting weekends from September 5. This is in addition to Wednesday night races at the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC). The Singapore Turf Club will be operating the totalisator for these races. For a start, "live" race coverage for the weekend Hong Kong meetings will only be available at Public Level 2 at the Singapore Racecourse. Admission to Level 2 will be $5. Admission to Public Level 1 and Level 3 remain unchanged at $3 and $7 respectively. Level 1 customers wishing to view the Hong Kong telecasts can pay an additional $2 to have access to Level 2. All betting counters at the racecourse will sell bets for the Hong Kong races. Lau Kian Heng, Senior Vice-President (Operations), Singapore Turf Club, says: "This will be for an initial trial period of six months and we would like to encourage racing fans who enjoy Hong Kong races to come and enjoy the races. For a start, for operational reasons, we are confining the HKJC telecasts to Public Level 2. We will be obtaining feedback from customers during this trial period to help us further fine tune and improve the arrangements."
