Moon Shadow wins QE II Cup

SINGAPORE,  29 August 2004

MOON SHADOW.

After some splendid showings in the last 17 months, MOON SHADOW deservingly captured his first classic when he triumphed in the S$250,000 Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2,000m at Kranji here today.

The seven-year-old brown/grey Australian horse by Bellotto out of the Danzig mare Tafah was second to Hong Kong’s COME SEE YOU in the Singapore Classic and again found one to beat in ZIRNA in the Singapore Gold Cup last year.

In a race dominated by the visitors, MOON SHADOW was the best local finisher in fifth spot in the Singapore Airlines International Cup in May this year.

Ridden by Eddie Wilkinson today, MOON SHADOW showed that these showings were no fluke when he outstayed RAUL and company to win the Singapore Group 2 event.

MOON SHADOW, who landed in Singapore unraced, was transferred to trainer Don Baertschiger after the original trainer Michael Kent left for Macau. He won four races each in 2001 and 2002 but success has eluded him until again until today.
