Relocation for Stipe and trainer

PENANG,  23 September 2004

Stipendiary Steward Soo Lai Kok and trainer Tiang Kim Choi are moving to Penang next month.

Soo, 31, who has been based in his home town Ipoh since he joined the MRA as an assistant stipendiary steward in 1996, will now be based at the Penang Turf Club. He replaces Sivakumar Perumal whose employment has been terminated by the MRA after an in-house inquiry into his conduct last Monday.

Currently Ipoh based Tiang, 36, is hoping to revive his fortunes in his new base.

In terms of numbers, Tiang had his best season in 2002 when he saddled 24 winner to be sixth in the trainer's table in Malaysia. Prior to that he has always managed double figures.

But last year, Tiang managed only seven winners and so far this season, has sent out only five winners. However, one of his successes came in the RM750,000 Selangor Gold Cup with OPPOSING FORCE.

With Tiang's relocation, the Jetball gelding will be returning to his former base Penang. He was formerly trained by Bonny Ng and then Richard Lines.

Tiang's first classic success came in the Piala Emas Sultan Selangor with SEASIDE BANK in 2002 and later that year, SEASIDE BANK also won the Sprint Trophy.
