Terry Tan fined RM40,000

Trainer Terry Tan was fined a sum of RM40,000 after the Stewards last week conducted an inquiry into DE HOSS returning a positive swab following its third placing in Race 2 in Ipoh on 28 February 2004. DE HOSS (5 b/br.a.g Dehere - Academy Of Dance) was also disqualified from the race. The inquiry was conducted after the analyst’s finding of a prohibited substance, Chlorpropamide in the urine sample taken from DE HOSS after he ran third to REMUS in the Class 4, Div 8 - 1,200m sprint. Evidence was taken from Tan, syce Asmoni bin Nawi (S918) and senior track Rider Jumari bin Dinor (STR 79). Professor Tan Soo Choon, Chief Analyst of Usains of the Veterinary Forensic Laboratory and Dr John Williams, Senior Veterinary Surgeon, Penang Turf Club, assisted the inquiry. Tan pleaded guilty to a charge under MRA Rule 203 (b) for having presented DE HOSS at the aforementioned race meeting which had detected in it a prohibited substance. He was fined the sum of RM40,000. The Stewards disqualified DE HOSS from the race and amended the placings accordingly to read as follows: 1st - REMUS (M Huzairi) Trainer T Tan has subsequently lodged an appeal against the severity of the penalty. |
