Two new trainers at Kranji

SINGAPORE,  6 May 2004

Singaporean Desmond Koh Chor Yung and Australian Trevor Bailey are the latest to join the trainer’s ranks in Singapore.

Their applications for the MRA Professional Trainer licence were given the green light by the MRA Committee in Penang on Friday, 30 April 2004 and have been allocated stables at Kranji.

Koh, 31, has been Assistant Trainer to local trainer Douglas Dragon since September last year and prior to that, he had held a Professional Trainer licence with the California Horse Racing Board from January 2000.

Koh has the distinction of being the youngest trainer in Singapore and will start training next week.

Bailey, 39, was recently granted a full Trainer Licence by Racing Victoria. Prior to that, he was Assistant Trainer to his father, Alan Bailey since 1998. In his capacity as Assistant Trainer, Trevor oversaw a stable of over 25 horses in Melbourne with considerable success for his father, who is based in Queensland. Together, they recorded many achievements, including having the best strike rate in Australia in 1998-1999 and winning the Queensland Premiership in 1997-1998.

Bailey will commence training operations at Kranji in June 2004.
