Dingwall leaves for Hong
Kong KUALA LUMPUR, 3 June 2005 |
||
Philip Dingwall, one of the youngest Chief
Stipendiary Stewards to be appointed to the post in Malaysia, has tendered
his resignation.
Dingwall, 39, will remain in office until August when he will take up an appointment as Stipendiary Seward with the Hong Kong Jockey Club. He took over the job of Chief Stipendiary Steward from David McGillivray in 2003 when the latter was appointed Professional Racing Steward. Prior to coming to Malaysia, Dingwall was with the Australian Jockey Club (AJC) and New South Wales Thoroughbred Racing Board (NSWTRB) for 14 years. During his tenure, Dingwall came down hard on trainers, jockeys, syces and even owners who breached the rules of racing, resulting in disqualification of up to several years for trainers and a record fine of RM100,000 for a syce. Even four-time champion jockey Azhar Ismail was not spared. He was recently disqualified one year for his handling of MOKSHA. It was perhaps his no-nonsense approach to racing which has landed him his new job in Hong Kong. |
