The Singapore Totalisator Board donated a total of S$1 million to 20 charitable institutions yesterday in conjunction with the running of the 2005 Singapore Gold Cup, the richest domestic race in the Singapore racing calendar, yesterday.

Singapore president S R Nathan, who was the guest-of-honour with his wife on Gold Day, presented the donation cheques on behalf of the Board.

Accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) supported this year’s Singapore Turf Club Charity Raceday by raising S$150,000 for the Community Chest.

I would like to thank the President and Mrs Nathan for gracing the occasion and PricewaterhouseCoopers for supporting our Charity Raceday and for making it a success."

Shared PwC Executive Chairman, Gautam Banerjee: "We have always supported charitable, educational and community service activities. Through Community Chest, a single entity, we will be able to reach out to a large number of disadvantaged groups."
