BIG EASY deservingly won the Singapore Group 1
S$350,000 Raffles Hotels & Resorts Cup over 1800m at Kranji here today.
A consistent sort who has finished out of the board only once - when fifth - the four-year-old bay New Zealand gelding by Spinning World out of the Forty Niner mare Nicole’s Niner silenced the "big guns" with an upset victory over the Kranji Mile runner-up SPECTRO POWER (7 b.a.g Spectrum - Announce by Military Plume). Kranji Mile victor REALLY GOOD (6 br.a.g Revoque - Raunchy Ruler by Rancho Ruler) could only finish third this time. Malaysian runner, the Cecil Robert trained SOLO VENTURE beat one home while topweight OPPOSING FORCE was a course scratching. It was the ninth win in 17 starts for BIG EASY who had two previous Singapore Group 3 successes behind him: the Singapore Guineas and the 3rd Leg of the Singapore 3YO Challenge, both over 1600m.
