Ninetyfive Emperor scores
runaway win

Twelve months ago, NINETYFIVE EMPEROR was an
odds-on favourite to win the S$350,000 Lion City Cup but he dislodged his
rider Saimee Jumaat after clipping the heels of another runner just 200m
into the race.
A year on, the five-year-old chestnut Australian gelding by Rory’s
Jester out of Entente Cordiale (by Jackson Square) and Saimee made amends
when they scored a runaway win in the 1200m weight-for-age sprint.
It was the 14th win in 21 starts for NINETYFIVE EMPEROR who had a failed
attempt in the Hong Kong Mile in 2003. He still holds the local record of 10
consecutive wins.
The much improved REALLY GOOD (5 br.a.g Revoque - Raunchy Ruler by Rancho
Ruler) came in second and while the 2003 Lion City Cup winner QUE EXPRESION
(7 b.arg.g Lode - Quebramar by Compatible) finished third this time.
Jason Waddell, recently granted a MRA jockey’s licence and hoping to
win the Singapore Airlines International Cup on MOUNT STREET tomorrow, got
the weekend off a splendid start when he booted home an early double on
DISTINCTIVE CHOICE (4 b.a.g Distinctly North - Taurine by Don’t Say Halo)
and TOTSIENS (3 ch.nz.g Shinko King - Katarine by Spectacular Love).
Weichong Marwing, in Singapore to ride South Africa’s RIGHT APPROACH in
the Cup tomorrow, scored on SEA ACE for trainer Patrick Shaw.
