GREYS INN

GREYS INN, who finished second to VENGEANCE OF RAIN in the Audemars QE II Cup (2000m) at Sha Tin in April, has arrived in Singapore from Dubai to prepare for the Spring Carnival in Melbourne.

The five-year-old dark bay/brown American horse by Zabeel out of the Christmas Tree mare Great Verdict has been targeted for the Carlton Draught Cox Plate (2050m) at Moonee Valley and the Emirates Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington.

South African compatriots Michael de Kock and Patrick Shaw hatched the plan to prepare GREYS INN in Singapore to take advantage of the good training facilities available at Kranji.

Said de Kock, "The facilities at Kranji are excellent and Patrick is someone I would trust a horse with. After discussing with the owner Mrs Bridget Oppenheimer, it was agreed that Singapore would be an ideal location to prepare GREYS INN for the Spring Carnival. The Singapore Turf Club has also been very helpful in making this plan possible".

GREYS INN, who has an international rating of 117, is the 2004 Champion South African Classic Colt after three Group 1 wins including the SA Derby and the nation’s most prestigious race, the Durban July.

He had three outings during the International Racing Carnival in Dubai for a win in a Group 3 event over 2400m and two fourth placings. In all, he has 12 starts for six wins and three placings.

GREYS INN is scheduled to leave for Melbourne in early October.
