Hoy applies to go on leave

IPOH,  2 June 2005

Hoy Kee Poh, who only returned to the scene in March after serving a six-month suspension for breach of MRA Rule 45(d), has applied for sabbatical leave from the Malayan Racing Association (MRA).

If approved, Hoy, 44, will be returning all his 30 stables to the Perak Turf Club where he is based.

"Under the current circumstances, I've no choice but to go on leave. My previous owners are not willing to support me while the new ones are not ready to come into the scene. So, the next best thing now is to take a break and maybe come back next season," said Hoy.

Hoy thus join a growing lost of trainers going on leave. Already on the sideline are Yashaiya Ahmad, Bonny Ng, Jimmy Lam Mun Chiew, John Brink and Sennett Ho. And indications are that more trainers will join them soon.
