HULK, who resumed from a short let-up to win
his seasonal debut last month, followed up on that run to capture the
S$125,000 Kranji Sprint at Kranji here today.
With Mark Du Plessis astride again, the three-year-old bay Australian
gelding by Greenlander out of the What A Guest mare Power Nap easily
disposed of his five rivals for his second feature race success.
HULK, who cost only A$11,000 as a yearling but fetched A$63,000 a few
months later at the 2003 Magic Millions Queensland Horses In Training Sale,
has now won six of his ten career starts in Singapore, including the
Juvenile Championship last July.
There were some close finishes despite the soft going.
SWIFT VICTORY (4 br.a.g Bellotto - Mrs Rumpole by Without Fear), who
failed to show up in his previous 18 starts, created up upset with a
nose-victory in the opening event and paid S$186 on course.
Last-start winner FAT BOY (4 b.a.g Umatilla - Musical Wave by Crested
Wave) was also tested before winning by a nose in the Class 3 - 1,400m
sprint.
