The Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) will be
launching the SLTC Juvenile Million Challenge this Sunday. As the title
suggests, the three-race series will be worth RM1 million in stakesmoney and
bonuses.
The first leg, offering RM175,000 in stakesmoney, to be run over 1400m this Sunday is open for two and three-year-olds. The second leg, staged over 1600m with RM225,000 in stakesmoney, will be run on Oct 16 when it will be open to three and four-year-olds. The final leg, offering RM300,000 in prize money, will be staged over 1800m. The first five horses past the post in each race will be awarded points and at the end of the series, bonuses will be paid to the owners of the top five horses. The winner in each race will receive 12 points, and six points will be awarded for second, four points for third, three for fourth and two for points for fifth. The overall winner will receive RM175,000 bonus and a trophy. RM75,000 will be awarded to the second horse, RM50,000 to the third, RM15,000 to the fourth and RM10,000 to the fifth horse. The first leg has attracted a total of 20 three-year-olds but only 12 will start. Due to repair on the short course, all races this meeting are run on the long course. The position of the running rail on the main track has been shifted outward by 10 metres along the back straight and 4 metres along the outer bend and home straight. Because of this, the maximum field for this meeting is limited to 12 runners. |
