John McGillivray fined over withdrawal

John McGillivray has been penalised over the withdrawal of BLUE MARINE (5 b.a.g Belong To Me - Dream Appeal by Valid Appeal) in the RM80,000 Kenilworth Cup at Sungei Besi on Saturday.

The Ipoh based trainer had two horses handicapped in the Class 3, Div 1 event over 1400m, the other being CELEBRITY WARRIOR, but both were non-acceptors on declaration day.

The Stewards today inquired into a letter of complaint lodged by Tang Weng Fei, registered owner of BLUE MARINE.

Evidence was taken from McGillivray, who pleaded guilty to a charge of misconduct under MRA Rule 53(b)(i). The particulars being, that contrary to the express direction of Tang to declare BLUE MARINE to race in the Kenilworth Cup (an international jockeys race), he scratched the horse from the race.

McGillivray was fined the sum of RM5,000.
