New riding name for apprentice

SINGAPORE,  11 July 2005 

Apprentice Sandana Kumar s/o Sreetharan, indentured to trainer Douglas Dragon at Kranji, has applied for his riding name to be hanged to S Sandana.

Previously, he was listed in the jockeys' list as S Kumar and his application has been approved by the Malayan Racing Association.

Sandana started his career in Malaysia in 2000 and booted home four winners that year, including a home based race. He had his best season last year when he rode 11 winners in Malaysia and three in Singapore.

Since his relocation to Singapore, he has been doing well with five winners so far this season.

His latest success came last Friday when he partnered the Dragon-trained ALL WIN (4 b.a.g Yeats - I'm Sharp by Captain Piper) to victory in the Benchmark 40 - 1600m handicap on the sand track.
