Former champion Hong Kong trainer David Hill, whose application for a trainer’s licence was registered by the MRA early this month, has been granted stables by the Singapore Turf Club and will start training operations next month. Englishman Hill started his career in India under the tutelage of his father in 1969 was most recently licensed by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, where he trained 377 winners. Hill, 54, was crowned joint Champion Trainer in Hong Kong in the 1992/93 racing season. His successes include RIVER VERDON, which was three times Horse of The Year and remains the only Triple Crown winner in Hong Kong. Married with three children, Hill brings a wealth of international experience to the ranks of trainers based at Kranji. The Singapore Turf Club has also granted stables to its former Stipendiary Steward Lionel Lee who will begin training operations on December. Lee, 45, has been actively involved in the local racing scene for over 22 years in various capacities, first as a racing journalist and more recently as stable supervisor with trainers Don Baertschiger and Charles Read. ![]() |
