Lim's Zerperb bags Stewards' Cup

SINGAPORE,  12 November 2005

LIM’S ZERPERB and ROBBINS, two of the most promising gallopers of their age in Singapore, staged a thrilling duel in the A$125,000 Stewards’ Cup over 1400m at Kranji here today.

In the end, LIM’S ZERPERB (3 b.nz.g Zerpour - Hugging by Beveled), with a win and a second in two career starts, proved a shade too good for ROBBINS, unbeaten in two previous starts, in the Singapore Group 3 contest for three-year-olds.

The Cup was the second leg of a double for jockey Soo Kheng Beng who is now six winners clear at the top of the table.

Earlier, he was successful on LION CITY HERO (4 b.nz.g Mellifont - Melody Tempo by Red Tempo) in the Class 3, Div 1 - 1400m sprint.

Sharing riding honours with Soo today was Sam Subian. The son of former jockey Subian Dalwee partnered YAAKEEN (5 ch.nz.g Volksraad - Bohola by Tap On Wood) to an upset win over favourite TAURUS in the Class 3, Div 2 - 1400m sprint, then ended the day scoring on KING TOWKAY (5 br.nz.g Towkay - Cause For Applause by Westminster).
