Indian jockey Alford returns to Singapore

SINGAPORE,  25 April 2006

Calcutta’s premier jockey Christopher Alford, 29, will be returning to Singapore to ride at the races this Friday and will be working hard at trackwork this week at Kranji.

Alford, who is currently licensed by the Royal Calcutta Turf Club, India, and who first rode in Singapore last year, said: “I’m grateful for the Singapore Turf Club granting me this licence and I am really looking forward to once again riding at Kranji.”

Alford is a highly successful rider with over 680 winners from a career spanning ten years and goes to scale at 52kgs.

Currently the leading rider in Calcutta, he has consistently dominated the jockey’s premiership and was champion jockey for the last six years.
