Hot favourite ARENTI made it six wins in seven
starts when he captured the S$125,000 Three Rings Trophy over 1400m at
Kranji here today.
The Singapore Group 3 race for three and four-year-olds was orginally
scheduled for Jan 13 but the race meeting was cancelled due to a badly
soaked track after days of rain.
Partnered by regular rider Soo Khoon Beng, the four-year-old bay New
Zealand gelding by O’Reilly out of the Centaine mare Gio made all the
running and gamely staved off the challenge of WORLD DELIGHT denying the
latter a hat-trick.
ARENTI’s dam, a winner over 1150m, is a full-sister to STARMAN II,
winner of seven races in the MRA circuit including the Selangor Gold Cup in
1996.
ARENTI the second winner of the afternoon for Soo who had earlier scored
on NEW GENERATION (4 b.a.g King Of Kings - I Do Hula by Hula Chief).
Saimee Jumaat, fresh from his breakthrough win on BEST WEAPON yesterday,
followed it up with a double on LANGSTON (4 ch.a.g Langfuhr - Touch And Glow
by Vain) and CHIN-HO (5 ch.nz.g Quality Gold - Harbour Strike by Harbor
Prince) today.
Trainer Patrick Shaw and jockey Mark du Plessis, who combined to win
three races yesterday, added another to their tally today with IZANAGI TIGER
(4 b/br.nz.g Shinko King - River Cat by Sir Godfrey).
