Diamond Dust sparkles in Committee's Prize

SINGAPORE,  24 February 2006

DIAMOND DUST became the first Japanese import to capture a feature race at Kranji when he scored an upset win in the S$125,000 Committee’s Prize over 1600m tonight.

Ridden by Frenchman Cedric Segeon, the five-year-old bay Japanese gelding by Lively One out Shinko Grace (by Sakura Yutako O) was prominent throughout in this Singapore Group 3 event and went on to score by two lengths, with LIM’S RANSOM and KING AND KING flashing home to fill the minor placings.

Last-start E W Barker Trophy winner ALWAYS FAST came from last at the home turn to finished fourth in the capacity field.

DIAMOND DUST landed unraced and picked up two wins each in the last two seasons. He was fourth in the Queen Elizabeth II Cup and Singapore Derby last year and in between finished second to ROYAL CAPTAIN in the Derby Trial.

Meanwhile, champion jockey Soo Khoon Beng registered his first treble of the season when he booted home LIM’S X’CLUSIVE (3 b/br.a.g Xaar - Bintang by Al Hareb), AKASHI CHAMPION (5 br.a.g Yeats - Go Lindy by Wharf) and TAURUS (4 gr.a.g Dieu D’or - Chutima by El Vaquero) while the current leading jockey continued his good good form with a double on DYNAMITE MUSUME (8 b.j.m Assatis - Crystal Flower by Treboro) and EL MARRROQUI (6 b.arg.g El Sembrador - Movie Star by Trial By Error).
