Just days after receiving Western Australia's Most Promising Apprentice award, Mark Ewe celebrated with his first win in Singapore astride COSMIC PRINCE in the Class 5 - 1700m handicap at Kranji here tonight.

It was his 12th ride since returning home after his training stint in Perth where the 23 year-old rode 31 winners in the 2005/2006 season.

Ewe rode a copy book race on COSMIC PRINCE (7 ch/gr.a.g Spectrum - Misty Power by Papal Power), whose only previous win came in August 2004, taking command from the start and held the rails all the way to win.

"My horse was always travelling in the backstretch," said Ewe, who received his award from his riding master Laurie Millington, a top-north rider ins days who also made his mark in the local circuit. "But he seemed to stop into the home straight. He got going again when I kept him balanced again and put the whip away."
