EXAGGERATE struck
form for the first time in five starts since relocating to Malaysia by
scoring an emphatic win in the RM250,000 Sports Toto Trophy over 1400m at
Sungei Besi today.
A top performer at Kranji in 2003 and 2004 when he won four feature races
including the 2003 Queen Elizabeth II Cup, he struggled to find his form
after winning the Jumbo Jet Trophy in August 2004.
The seven-year-old bay New Zealand gelding by Zabeel out of the Red Tempo
mare Enhancer was then transferred to Barry Brogan at the tailend of last
season and he showed up for the first time in four starts by finishing third
last week.
With visiting jockey Barend Vorster astride, EXAGGERATE easily accounted for
top sprinter LIANG XIN to record his fifth win in 32 starts.
EXAGGERATE was the second leg of a double for Vorster who earlier scored on
OLYMPIC SUN (4 br.a.g Clang - Wise Larfield by Bonfield).
His double must have delighted the South African delegation who were in
Kuala Lumpur for the Kenilworth Cup.
The RM80,000 Class 3 - 1300m sprint, the first of two jockeys invitation
race for the weekend, was won by local jockey Sofhan Latif on MAGIC
COPPERFIELD (7 b.nz.g Oregon - Marshu by Tom’s Shu).
