Fradd get permit to ride in Singapore

SINGAPORE,  5 December 2006

South African born rider Robbie Fradd will become a regular sight at Kranji in 2007, after the Singapore Turf Club granted him a six-month freelance licence.

Fradd, 42, has accomplished much throughout his career with over 2000 winners to his name.

For the last 10 years he has been based in Hong Kong where he achieved notable success including the Jockey’s Premiership in 1999/2000 when he rode 74 winners.

Fradd enjoyed a very successful partnership with Fairy King Prawn, the first Hong Kong-trained horse ever to taste Group One success overseas, when they combined to win the 2000 Yasuda Kinen.

He also won the Hong Kong Derby on Keen Winner in 2000 and the Stewards’ Cup on Electronic Unicorn in 2002.

“I won the Singapore Derby on Our Falstaff for Patrick Shaw earlier this year and I really enjoyed the place.

It’s a completely different set-up to Hong Kong and it will be a good lifestyle change. I’m looking forward to riding there on a regular basis.” Fradd said.

Fradd will commence riding in Singapore after the Hong Kong International meeting on Dec 10 and his riding weight will be 52kgs.
