After the impressive win by Japanese-bred
COSMO BULK in the Singapore Airlines International Cup May 14, Singapore
owners can look forward to owning their own Japanese-bred horses. The Japanese Bloodstock and Breeders’ Association (JBBA) is donating 10 quality two-year-old colts and fillies to the Singapore Turf Club. The Club will be making these horses available for purchase by tender in July 2006. The proceeds will be donated by the Club to charity. Details of the offer will be made available after the horses arrive in late June 2006. A delegation from the JBBA, a non-profit organization whose main aim is to improve and promote the Japanese thoroughbred industry, visited the Singapore Turf Club in January 2006 and in turn, a delegation comprising owners and trainers from Singapore, led by Koh Yong Guan, Chairman, Singapore Turf Club, were invited to attend two “in-training” sales in Hokkaido last week where the 10 donated horses were purchased. Koh said, “On behalf of the Singapore Turf Club, I would like to thank the JBBA for the donation of the 10 Japanese-bred horses to the Club”. “I’m sure this initiative, along with the excellent win of COSMO BULK at our 2006 Singapore Airlines International Cup, will go a long way in promoting the Japan bred-horses to Singapore owners”. The 10 horses donated by the JBBA, together with another 14 Japanese bred horses purchased at the sales by members of the Singapore delegation, will arrive in Singapore in June, boosting the total number of Japanese-bred horses in Singapore to a healthy 36. |
