KELANTAN packed too much
class for his rivals to capture the S$450,000 Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’
Association Trophy over 1600m at Kranji today.
Ridden by Ron Stewart, KELANTAN (3 b.nz.c Cape Cross - Stever House by El
Gran Senor) came from a long way back early to beat outsider MUSIC MASTER
with ITMAYBEYOU, winner of the second leg over 1400m, third.
The final leg of the Singapore 2006 Three-Year-Old Challenge this year was
named in honour of the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association which donated
ten horses to the Singapore Turf Club to be auctioned for charity.
The large Japanese delegation at Kranji today also had four other races
named in their honour.
KELANTAN had performed with
distinction in New Zealand, winning both his two runs at two which included
the Listed CJC South Island 2YO Stakes. He then found one to beat in two
starts at three, including the Listed Wanganui Guineas.
In Singapore, the Steven Gray-trained KELANTAN has now started nine times
for three wins and looks set to develop into a top class middle distance
runner.
