Jockey Kumarentheran a/l Aramugam has been
disqualified one year for returning a positive urine swab in August this
year.
On Nov 22, a report received from the Australian Racing Forensic Laboratory,
New South Wales, Australia, confirmed the earlier findings from the
Veterinary Forensic Laboratory in Penang: that a urine sample taken from him
during the Selangor Turf Club Pro-Am Meeting on Aug 31 revealed the presence
of “Methamphetamine”, a prohibited substance under MRA Regulation 46.2.
The Stewards conducted an inquiry into the above report on Nov 30 at the
Selangor Turf Club and evidence was taken from Kumarentheran.
After considering all the evidence, Kumarentheran was found guilty of a
charge under MRA Rule 204(3)(ii). Kumarentheran was disqualified for a
period of one year with immediate effect from November 30 and to expire on
Nov 29, 2007, both days inclusive. He was
advised of his right of appeal.
Kumarentheran subsequently exercised his right of appeal and applied for a
stay of sentence, which was granted. The Appeal will be held on a date to be
fixed. |
