Eight trainers get six-month licences

KUALA LUMPUR,  2 January 2006

Eight trainers have been issued six-month licences for the 2006 racing season which begins today with the staging of the combined professional/amateur meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

They were among those who were called up last month to show cause why their licences should be renewed for the new season.

They are Wong Kong Fatt (based in Penang), Leong Poh Keong, Evelyn Seet Guay Ngoh, Wilming Yeo, Abdul Rahim bin Abdul Rahman (all based in Ipoh), Winson Liew Win San, John Nicholls and Terry Tan (all based in Kuala Lumpur).

They have to show improved performances during the first half of the season or risk having their licences not renewed.

Of the eight, Wong had the best record in 2005 with ten winners while Abdul Rahim saddled six winners and Nicholls eight.

Seet had seven winners, Leong six while Tan and Yeo had five winner each. Liew fared the worst of the of the lot with only four winners.
