Singapore withdraws stables to Lionel Lee

SINGAPORE,  5 April 2006

The Singapore Turf Club said today it will be withdrawing the stables allocated to trainer Lionel Lee as he has “failed to meet commitments made when applying for stables at Singapore Racecourse”. Lee will be winding down his operations by May 1.

A former journalist and Stipendiary Steward at the Club, Lee, 45, was granted a licence last September and began operations only in December. He had his first runner in SOVEREIGN RAIN in January and the same horse scored in his second start on Jan 27.

However, Lee, who was stable supervisor with trainers Don Baertschiger and the late Charles Read before branching out on his own, has have only one other runner so far with a mere five starts between them.
