Mr Line triumphs in Singapore Gold Cup

SINGAPORE,  12 November 2006

MR LINE leads WAR HORN home in Singapore Gold Cup.

British born South African-based jockey Jeff Lloyd's long distance dash to ride in Singapore this weekend paid handsome dividend when he captured the S$1.35m Singapore Gold Cup astride MR LINE.

It was also the biggest success for Argentinean horses in Singapore since the South American country began to export horses here a few years ago.

In fact, WAR HORN (Barend Vorster) made it a Argentinean 1-2 for trainer Patrick Shaw. Following them home were the Laurie Laxon pair of BIG EASY and RAUL, the latter winner in 2004.

ME LINE came to Singapore unraced and showed some quality when he won the Group 3 Singapore Guineas in January this year. He has been making steady progress in recent months with four victories in his last seven starts and winning his last two. His record now reads seven wins and seven placings in 22 starts.

Malaysian challenger JERAM SPECIAL was prominent early but faded to beat one home. The other runner from Penang, CONTINUANCE, was never in the hunt.
