Penang launches second incentive scheme

Just five months after the launching of the Cash-Incentive-Purchase-Scheme for its members in January, the Penang Turf Club (PNTC) will launch another scheme to encourage the importation of more quality horses and increasing the horse population at Batu Gantong.

This time, however, the freight subsidy/bonus scheme is open to all the club's members and also horseowners with horses based at Batu Gantong.

A freight subsidy of either RM25,000 or RM12,500 shall be given for the purchase of yearlings or two-year-olds based on the purchase prices from the designated sales.

For the Magic Millions (MM) Yearling Sales 2007, a subsidy amount of RM25,000 will be paid for purchases of A$45,000 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase of A$30,000 to below A$45,000.

A sum of RM25,000 will be paid for any purchase of NZ$57,500 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase of NZ$40,000 to below NZ$57,500, at the New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales 2007, New Zealand.

For horses bought at the William Inglis Yearling Sales 2007, Australia, a sum of RM25,000 will be paid for any purchase of A$50,000 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase ofA$35,000 to below A$50,000.

For horses acquired at the Tattersalls Yearling Sales 2007, UK, a sum ofRM25,000 will be paid for the purchase of 25,000 guineas and above.

For horses obtained at the MM Horses-In-Training Sales 2006, Australia, a sum of RM25,000 will be paid for the purchase of A$65,000 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase of A$45,000 to below A$65,000.

For horses sold at the NZ Bloodstock Ready-To-Run Sales, 2006, New Zealand, a sum of RM25.000 will be paid for the purchase of NZ$80,000 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase of NZ$60,000 to below NZ$80,000.

A sum of RM25,000 will be paid for the purchase of A$70,000 and above, and RM12,500 for the purchase of A$52,000 to below A$70,000 for horses acquired at the William Inglis Ready-To-Run Sales, 2006.

For horses sold at the Tattersalls Horses-In-Training Sales, 2006, a sum ofRM25,000 will be paid for the purchase of 27,000 guineas and above.

An additional bonus of RM10,000 will be given for yearlings purchased at A$90,000 and above or two-year-olds purchased at A$120,000 and above.

This scheme is effective from the Tattersalls July Sale and Horses-In-Training Sale in October, Magic Millions Horses-In-Training Sales at the Gold Coast & Perth in September & October respectively, William Inglis & Son Ready-To-Run Sale in October and New Zealand Bloodstock Ready-To-Run Sale in November.

Payment of the freight subsidy/bonus is subject to the terms and conditions governing the scheme, one of which requires the horse to be placed at the PNTC for a minimum period of 18 months.
