ENCHANTED PRINCE, narrowly
beaten by LIANG XIN in the RM200,000 Sultan Gold Vase last year, gained
sweet revenge when triumphed in the 1100m sprint over the Ipoh straight
course here today.
With Leong Yoon Fei back to
partner him, the six-year-old chestnut Australian gelding by Piccolo out of
the And Behold mare Enchanted Eyes gave a much improved performance this
time, winning by half-a-length from ULTIMATE GLAMOUR with LIANG XIN a long
third.
Trained by John McGillivray,
ENCHANTED PRINCE has now chalked up seven wins from 17 starts, earning
RM400,000. A splendid return for the A$35,000 purchase at the Perth Magic
Millions Sale.
Leong's best ever meeting
just gets better and better. Four winners last Saturday and a treble last
Sunday was followed by two more strikes today. After ENCHANTED PRINCE, he
went on to score on BUSINESS KING (6 br.a.g Key Business - Fury Princess by
Pago Mystery).
SUMMER FIESTA made amends
after four disappointing runs this season to complete a grand double
RM250,000 Wira Malaysia Cup over 1600m.
The Posen gelding, trained
by Evert van Breukelen, had won the richest race for Malaysian breds last
year and again romped to an easy win with Oscar Chavez astride.
Meanwhile, Canadian based
Japanese jockey Hiroshi Ando, making his maiden appearance in Malaysia, was
off the mark in his third ride of the afternoon when successful on OFF GUARD
(7 b.nz.g Masterclass - Royal Pageant by Butty).
