Stewards' Cup SINGAPORE, 11 November 2006 |

Consistent SAFETY OUTLET accounted for a smart field of promising horses to capture the S$200,000 Stewards' Cup for three-year-olds over 1400m at Kranji here today. A runaway winner in his debut in July, the bay Australian colt by Favorite Trick out of the Air de France mare Safety Valve went on to chalk up four consecutive placings, including a third behind VEGAS STAR and ROYAL STAR in the Juvenile Championship. But the Desmond Koh-trained SAFETY OUTLET turned the tables on VEGAS STAR this time around in the Singapore Group 3 event, winning by two lengths in the "heavy" going, and survived an objection for alleged interference at the start. MAJESTICARDO finished third, ahead of ROYAL STAR. SAFETY OUTLET, who had a second and a fourth in Perth before coming to Singapore, was unfancied in the betting and paid a handsome $244 on course. Meanwhile, WHY BE (5 b.a.g Success Express - Charybdis by Royal Academy) stepped up his preparation for a crack at the Hong Kong Sprint with another sizzling display in the Kranji Stakes A - 1200m sprint — his 13th in 16 starts. |
