Selvan fails in appeal again

PENANG,  1 July 2006

Jockey NM Selvan will be out of action for two and a half years after failing in his second appeal against disqualification.

Selvan was disqualified one year and and fined RM30,000 for his handling of CUT THE DEAL in a Class 3, Div 2 - 1200m sprint in Ipoh on Jan 8.

While riding on a stay of execution, he ran foul of the stipendiary stewards again on SUCCESS VICTORY in Penang on April 8 and was disqualified 18 months.

His subsequent appeal on the CUT THE DEAL case was dismissed and now his appeal against the 18-month disqualification for his handling of SUCCESS VICTORY has also been thrown out by the Penang Turf Club Racing Stewards yesterday.

Under MRA Rules and Regulations, Selvan will have to show cause why his licence should be reinstated after serving his sentences and should be wish to return to race riding.
