The public tender of the
ten Japanese-bred horses donated to the Singapore Turf Club by the Japan
Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association (JBBA) for research purpose raised $538,190
for the President’s Challenge 2006.
At the close of tender last Friday evening, a total of 32 bids were received
for the ten thoroughbreds. The highest bid was $75,000 for Lot 2 by Trainer
Hideyuki Takaoka.
Yu Pang Fey, President and Chief Executive of the Singapore Turf Club, said
he was heartened by the enthusiasm and strong support given by the owners,
trainers and also the media. “We are grateful to the Japan Bloodhorse
Breeders’ Association for donating the ten thoroughbreds and for making it
possible to raise funds for the President’s Challenge 2006. We look forward
to a greater exchange of information and expertise between JBBA and
Singapore Turf Club and to having more top quality Japanese thoroughbreds at
Kranji.”
