Tender of Japanese horses raises S$538,190

SINGAPORE,  30 July 2006

The public tender of the ten Japanese-bred horses donated to the Singapore Turf Club by the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association (JBBA) for research purpose raised $538,190 for the President’s Challenge 2006.

At the close of tender last Friday evening, a total of 32 bids were received for the ten thoroughbreds. The highest bid was $75,000 for Lot 2 by Trainer Hideyuki Takaoka.

Yu Pang Fey, President and Chief Executive of the Singapore Turf Club, said he was heartened by the enthusiasm and strong support given by the owners, trainers and also the media. “We are grateful to the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders’ Association for donating the ten thoroughbreds and for making it possible to raise funds for the President’s Challenge 2006. We look forward to a greater exchange of information and expertise between JBBA and Singapore Turf Club and to having more top quality Japanese thoroughbreds at Kranji.”
