Biggest payout for exotic bet

SINGAPORE,  3 March 2006

A lucky punter was the recipient tonight of the the biggest payout of $561,543 for exotic betting in Singapore.

Triple Trio, which requires punters to pick the first three horses in three designated races, was introduced last month at just $2 per unit bet.

The jackpot pool carried over to tonight's races at Kranji was $856,569. The gross turnover for the Triple Trio tonight was $351,376.

There were 3,314 winning units after the first leg which was won by outsider YAMASAKI, who defeated HOMMONO and LIM'S FALCON.

After good-priced winner ABRAHAM won the second leg from NORTHWIND and LUCKY STRONG, there were only 157 units remaining.

The final leg saw LIM'S HUNTER defeating PAPAKURA with SUPERB STAR and SCREAMING EAGLE deadheating for third.

One punter picked up half the pool of $561,543 for the LIM'S HUNTER-PAPAKURA-SUPERN STAR combination while two others won $280,771 each for picking LIM'S HUNTER-PAPAKURA-SCREAMING EAGLE.
