All-the-way for Why Be in Fischer Stakes

SINGAPORE,  21 April 2006
WHY BE made it seven consecutive wins with a resounding victory in the S$200,000 Fischer Stakes, the second leg of the Singapore sprint series, over 1200m at Kranji tonight.

Having scored a runaway win in the first leg, the Kranji Sprint, early this month, the three-year-old bay Australian gelding by Success Express out of the Royal Academy mare Charybdis frightened away most potential rivals, with just six horses entered to take him on.

Eventually only six horses started in this Singapore Group 3 event and WHY BE never gave his rivals a chance, making every post a winning one to beat CONNERY by one-and-a-half lengths.

With nine wins and two seconds in 11 starts, WHY BE is odds-on to make a clean sweep of the sprint series in the Lion City Cup in three weeks’ time.

For winning jockey Sam Subian, it is a another feather in the cap for the Penang rider in the feature races at Kranji this season.
