Temporary restriction lifted

SINGAPORE,  25 September 2007

The five horses at the Singapore Polo Club which showed signs of  respiratory viral disease last Sunday are not infected with equine influenza.

Following the announcement today from the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) that the five horses at the Singapore Polo Club are not infected with equine influenza, the Singapore Turf Club is lifting the temporary measures imposed last Sunday at the racecourse which restricted contact with horses and access to areas, including the stables.

All the horses at the Singapore Racecourse are well, said Singapore Turf Club in a statement today. "In view of recent equine influenza outbreaks overseas, the Club will continue to maintain a high level of vigilance to ensure that the horse population at the racecourse is protected" it concluded.
