Jockeys with less than 150
career wins will soon be able to claim a weight allowance in all races
except where the conditions of the race specify otherwise.
This change in the rules of racing regarding rider allowances will take
effect Oct 1.
A total of 30 jockeys will benefit from this amendment to the rules.
However, Marcus Au, who has ridden 150 winners as at September 17, will lose
the claim after riding just one more winner.
Shahrul Nizam, with 140 wins, will lose the claim after riding 11 more
winners. In all, 12 jockeys will be able to claim a 1-kg allowance come next
month.
Two jockeys, E Aslam and Henry Barnabas, will be able to claim a 3-kg
allowance. |
