Malaysian apprentices win challenge

KUALA LUMPUR,  9 December 2007

Malaysian apprentices won the annual Apprentice Jockeys Invitational challenge against their Singapore counterparts to level the score at 3-3 since the series began six years ago.

Malaysian apprentices won just one of the three races on the card during the weekend but a dominant display by them in the second leg saw them victorious with the final score 92 to 75.

Singapore won the first leg yesterday through Mark Ewe on POWER FOR SUCCESS but the Malaysians filled the first five placings in the second race today with Tai Lee Leong tops on BEE BEE TYCOON (Mellifont - Her Excellency by Vice Regal).

Singapore struck back with Adam Fiezan winning the final leg on ONEMORETIME (Istidaad - Sail To Success by Brigand) but could not garner enough points to overhaul the Malaysians.

However, Ewe won the Champion Apprentice Jockey's Trophy with 31 points after finishing third on COLOURLAND SUPREME in the final leg.
