Rookie apprentice Azrull lands first winner

Bookie apprentice Mohd Azrull, who went to Queensland to learn the trade, landed his first winner when he partnered MAXI MARINE to an easy win in the Class 4, Div 1 - 1200m sprint at Kranji tonight.

Returning to Singapore, Azrull, 21, had to wait until he completed his national service (which he did recently) for his chance to land that breakthrough victory.

And the young lad rode with good balance and confidence to score by three and a-half lengths. "It's a moment I've waited for a long time. My dad is in the crowd right not and I'm sure he'll be thrilled."
