Australian Danny Beasley
will be the latest new jockey to boost the riding ranks at Kranji. The
Singapore Turf Club has granted the 32-year-old Sydney-based rider a
six-month visiting jockey’s licence which commences on October 1 and ends on
March 31, 2008.
Beasley, who is currently licensed by Racing New South Wales, has ridden
close to 1,200 winners, mainly for leading Sydney trainers Gai Waterhouse
and Guy Walter. He was also the stable jockey for successful racehorse owner
John Singleton.
Among his feature wins are 14 Group 1 races including the Golden Slipper
(POLAR SUCCESS), the Newmarket Handicap (MISS PENNYMONEY), the Doncaster
Handicap and the Queen Elizabeth Stakes with the horse he probably had the
best association with, Waterhouse’s brilliant galloper GRAND ARMEE.
Beasley, who is married with two children, finished 11th with 26 wins in the
2006-2007 Sydney Metropolitan premiership and currently sits 6th with five
wins.
In terms of overseas experience, Beasley has ridden in Hong Kong and Macau,
and also enjoyed a brief stint in Ipoh, Malaysia in April 1999 when he rode
two winners (including a dead-heat) from 13 rides. He also rode at one
Kranji meeting in March 2002, finishing unplaced on Australian raider BUSH
PADRE in the Singapore Classic which has since been discontinued.
Beasley goes to scale at 53kgs. |
